We used suffolk latches not long ago to refit an old country property that we had recently bought at a knock down price. We did this as we were really keen on preserving the early character and appearance of the property. To guarantee we completed the venture perfectly, I researched the era in which it was built. From this research I could use as many iron monger products as possible to guarantee I got the look just right. When I looked around the cottage I saw there were lots of ways to make it seem like a Victorian home. I also spent a lot of time pondering about who had built the home and their life at the time.
Part of the setup also included restoring the barn and storage houses so we used butterfly hinges to make the interior and exterior doors appear like they came straight from the Victorian Time. From a historic ironmongery shop in the town, I managed to find the ideal products that also had a beeswax finish. We were very amazed at the regional interest in our plans including the neighbors who visited offering their suggestions and ideas. Always, I will remain so passionate about preserving the early character features and respecting the heritage of our country cottage.
